Caffwise (“Caffwise,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is developed by Savannah Altman, an individual developer. This Privacy Policy explains what information Caffwise collects, how it’s used, and the choices you have. Caffwise is designed to keep your data on your device — we built the app around that principle, not around collecting your information.
If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].
When you use Caffwise, the following is stored locally in the app’s private storage on your device:
This information is never transmitted to a Caffwise-operated backend, because Caffwise does not run one. If iCloud sync is active (see below), Apple may sync that same private data across your devices under your Apple ID.
If you choose to grant access, Caffwise reads your sleep data from Apple Health to show caffeine-and-sleep patterns you request (for example, correlating a late drink with a later bedtime). This access is:
iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Caffwise.Caffwise can use Apple’s MetricKit framework to capture crash and performance diagnostics, but only if you turn this on in Settings → Privacy & Legal → Diagnostics. When enabled:
If you email us at [email protected], we receive whatever information you choose to include in that email (such as your address and message content), handled like ordinary email correspondence. We use it only to respond to you and do not use it for marketing.
Caffwise does not currently charge for the app or offer in-app purchases. If paid features are added later, payment processing would be handled by Apple through the App Store / StoreKit. Caffwise would not receive, transmit, or store your payment card details. Apple’s collection and use of payment information is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Caffwise does not:
All caffeine, sleep, goal, and preference data lives in Caffwise’s private app storage on your device, protected by the same security and encryption protections iOS provides to every app’s sandboxed data.
When you are signed in to iCloud on your device, Caffwise also syncs that private data across your own devices through Apple’s iCloud / CloudKit infrastructure under your Apple ID. Sync uses Apple’s private CloudKit database for this app — Caffwise does not run a separate account system, and your tracking data is not sent to Caffwise servers. You can review sync status in Caffwise → Settings → iCloud Sync, and manage Apple ID / iCloud in iPhone Settings.
Settings → Export Data lets you generate a CSV copy of your logs at any time, which you can save or share yourself.Settings → Data Management lets you permanently delete all data stored by Caffwise on your device, including diagnostics.Settings → iCloud Sync in Caffwise shows the current status.iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Caffwise, at any time.Settings → Privacy & Legal, toggle diagnostics off at any time.Caffwise is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us at [email protected] so we can help you delete it.
Caffwise is a wellness and educational tool, not a medical device or medical service. Caffeine and sleep information you see in the app is based on estimates and simplified models, and should not be treated as medical advice. See also our Terms of Use.
The only third parties involved in Caffwise’s data handling are Apple frameworks running on your own device or under your Apple ID (HealthKit, MetricKit, CloudKit / iCloud, User Notifications, WidgetKit, and, if applicable later, StoreKit / App Store billing). We do not integrate third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services beyond Apple’s own frameworks described above.
Caffwise does not operate its own servers for your caffeine or sleep logs. When iCloud sync is active, Apple may store and sync that data in Apple’s iCloud infrastructure under your Apple ID according to Apple’s privacy practices and the region associated with your account.
If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the “Effective date” above and, where appropriate, provide notice inside the app (for example, on the Privacy & Legal settings screen). We encourage you to review this page periodically.
This policy is governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where local law requires otherwise.
